Little Haiti, Florida has a new neighbor and they're called Choublak/ Little Haiti Visitors Center & Garden. The visitors center invites you to explore art, music, and dance that celebrates the rich heritage of Little Haiti. I was pleased to do a mural for this business. A symbol of beauty, health, and love was chosen for the outdoor mural.

The Hibiscus or “choublak” (in Haitian Kreyol) is the unofficial national flower of Haiti. It is native to warm-tempered regions of the world, such as Haiti.

In addition, the beautiful the hibiscus also has various medicinal and culinary uses that have become common in the country. It aids with treating inflammation, diaherra, and hematomas. It is also antibacterial, antispasmodic, and anti-hypertensive by nature. Many cocktails and teas commonly served in Haiti include the “choeblack” in their recipes.

The 2024 Haitian Heritage Expo was absolutely beautiful, the decorations, the music, the food, and Haitian Vibes. I truly want to give a big thank you Sandy Dorsainvil / Maximillian Consultants Inc.  I am honored and grateful to be part of the Expo. I’m happy that you gave me this commission.  The legacy of Basquiat has a special influence in the Haitian Arts. I was asked to have a Basquiat theme piece. Incorporating elements from several paintings and emerging those components into this painting. Alongside, I also included the community to participate in the creation. Whether engagement by having respectably conversations and/or contribute their thoughts and voices through painting. I then, add on/ subtract off to the painting. Just like Basquiat painting process. I tried my best to follow the same painting process. So really! This is the PEOPLES painting. Overall, the execution of this project was fun, entertaining, and We push through the heat. The result is satisfying.

Once again, thank  you Sandy. OH! Marie-Claire, Merci cheri! Special thanks to those that put their thumb print on the painting.

As Brutus put it, "As a collective, being a part of coming together and seeing the results-it was a wave."

That precise art boom boosted the local economy, which cannot be forgotten, even after gentrification. It is the fine line between art and business, and on political levels, it's one of the biggest trajectories about the art world: its rarity of creative annuities and art preservation.

"The artists were given the equipment to operate and then 'unleashed into the wild.' It was honest," said Brutus. It was a reason to get up in the mourning, a profound feeling of purpose. "The Mecca," he said. "I learned a lot."

It's truly an honor to have a Florida magazine and a fellow artist spotlight my creative journey. I'm deeply grateful to Stefany Fisher for the interview and her encouraging words.

I had the honor of creating a commissioned mural for the Future of Cities at the Climate and Innovation Hub Regenerative Event Space. The mission of this space revolves around NATURE, COMMUNITY, and CULTURE.

Dedicated to being a low-waste event space, we actively strive to minimize our environmental impact. In collaboration with local partners, we are working on developing an ecosystem aimed at reducing waste streams. Our commitment aligns with the Regenerative Placemaking Framework established by the Future of Cities, allowing us not only to be environmentally conscious but also to contribute positively to our local neighborhood.

Thanks Future of Cities!

I had the privilege of participating in the 2023 Colfax Mural Festival in Aurora, Colorado, where I collaborated with talented artists like Jannah Rarooque, Tessa Fuqua, and Sandra Fettingis. Together, we had the opportunity to create stunning murals on three walls of the Mango House building.

I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Aaron, Kristin, and all the amazing individuals who played a crucial role in making this festival a reality. Their support allowed me to express my artistic vision and skills during the event, and I am truly thankful for the opportunity.
